ICTNS develops solution to integrate accounting software into college administration software.
Background
Empower Financials is an accounting software development company located in Ann Arbor, Mich. It has created financial, payroll and distribution software for more than two decades.
Campus Management is a college administration software company located in Boca Raton, FL. Their software is used by more than 1,000 campuses worldwide and by three of the top five colleges in the United States.
The Challenge
In 2005, Campus Management approached Empower Financials to incorporate Empower Financials’ accounting software into Campus Management’s college administration software.
With Empower Financials’ accounting software written in PowerBuilder and Campus Management’s college administration software written in a combination of Visual Basic 6 and the Microsoft .NET framework, the two software programs needed an innovative solution.
Empower Financials turned to ICTNS for assistance in creating their API when the two companies decided that the Microsoft .NET framework would be the right technology for the task.
The Solution
ICTNS worked with Empower Financials to develop an API written entirely using the Microsoft.NET framework. ICTNS helped EmpowerFinancials create a base building block for the entire application, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of their current solution and architecture.
ICTNS worked with Empower Financials’ to review the code and identified both strong and weak areas of the programming. This allowed for the architecture to be built correctly from the ground up by taking advantage of both parties’ years of knowledge.
The Results
The integration was a success. The API developed by ICTNS allowed Empower Financials’ accounting software to be successfully integrated into Campus Management’s software.
With the deployment of the API, Empower Financials’ accounting software is now found in Campus Management’s software suite of software offerings and is being used by campuses worldwide.
As a result of ICTNS’ successful software development solution, Empower Financials is currently working with ICTNS to redevelop its entire accounting software program into the Microsoft .NET framework.
